Change is a scary thing. But if you won’t be open to it, you will never have the joy of allowing God to use you in ways you never imagined.
It is easy to think of great Christian reformers such as Martin Luther, John Wesley, Dwight L Moody and Charles Spurgeon as being people who were larger-than-life.
I imagined them sitting in their study all day either reading their Bible or on their knees in prayer. But I discovered that most had families just like you and me. And they also had responsibilities for daily living.
Many of them were also pastors, so they had to deal with people and problems in the church.
But prayer and Bible study was of great importance to them all. Otherwise, God could have never used them greatly to carry out His Work.
I read many of their stories. To my surprise, I found that they had faults and flaws just like we do. They were far from perfect, but God saw deep into their heart. He saw their desire to wholly surrender to Him, and allow Him to use them however He chose.
They were ordinary people just like you and me who chose to surrender completely to God. This doesn’t mean they never messed up. It does mean they repented as soon as the Holy Spirit convicted them of their sin.
If you feel God leading you to do something you feel is “impossible,” don’t say NO just because you look at yourself and see all your imperfections and flaws.
God is big enough to use you in spite of every flaw and imperfection.
Every Christian must live in the world but should never conform to the values of it. If we conform, God can’t use us to change what is around us.
Yes, change is a scary thing. But conforming to the values of other people can make you lose your identity. And once that happens, you become a truly miserable person.
Romans 12: 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
God works through us supernaturally when we are determined to walk in obedience to Him. And we will always be astounded to see what He does and the way He does it.
Luther, Wesley, Moody, and Spurgeon made the choice not to conform to people around them. Instead, they chose to walk in obedience to God. Only then could He use them to impact the world.
Make the decision to submit your life to God and let Him use you however He chooses. There is no greater feeling than KNOWING that you are in the center of His Will.
Things may look as if they are falling apart around you. But in the center of His Will is where you will find peace and joy. And you can’t understand it any way other than knowing it is a supernatural thing from God Himself.
