When God calls you to stay in a difficult situation, realize that He has some growing and maturing for you to do. Then ask Him for wisdom, direction, and the strength to do the job.
At one point in my life, I was in a very difficult situation. I was a part of an organization that had tremendous problems. I desperately wanted to leave, and felt that if I did so my life would be much less stressful.
Things were hard, but I never felt my life was in danger or someone was trying to physically harm me. I wanted out so that I could have less stress by simply not having to deal with the problem.
But I was stopped from leaving when God spoke clearly to my mind these words: “You are not to leave. You are to stay and pray and fast for this situation.”
At the time, these were words I didn’t want to hear. I couldn’t understand why God would want me to stay in a situation like this. But I had no choice if I wanted to be obedient to Him. I couldn’t see any good that could come out of staying.
But God could see the future, and He knew where He wanted me to be. He also knew exactly what it would take for me to get there.
He knew I was seeking His Will for my life. But He also knew how reluctant I was to leave my comfort zone. So, He had to give me a big nudge.
Because of the bad situation, I dug deep into the Word and sought God more than ever. There’s nothing like being in a bad situation to make you rethink your priorities.
God wanted to reveal some things to me that I would never have learned unless I was going through a tough time.
You grow and mature in the tough times, not the times where everything is going smoothly.
The more I sought God, the more He revealed Himself to me. This became an exciting time in my life as I received flashes of truth that I had never seen before.
I also was absorbing these truths so they could change me from the inside out.
A while later, I did leave. And I had a perfect peace about it, because I knew God had released me. No matter what anyone else thought, I knew I had done the right thing.
I’m so glad I didn’t allow my feelings to rule my actions. If I had left the bad situation, I would have missed out on the things God wanted to show me.
Looking back through history, there are many people that God used greatly. Many of them persevered through difficult circumstances to do what they felt God had called them to do.
Thankfully, they didn’t quit just because the going got tough. They didn’t make a decision to leave based on how they felt. If they had, God would never have been able to use them in such a mighty way.
None of them could see the BIG PICTURE of what would happen in the years ahead. Sometimes God was able to use ONE PERSON who was completely sold out to Him to impact a huge area. And sometimes that impact was felt worldwide.
I have no idea what your hard situation is, but God does.
When God calls you to stay in a difficult situation, pray until you have an answer. You might be one of the few people who sees the truth, and God might be planning to do an “impossible” work that you wouldn’t have thought of in a million years.
You may be that ONE PERSON that God can use to impact those around you in a mighty way. Surrender your life to Him and walk in obedience, even when it doesn’t always make logical sense.
