Who the Holy Spirit is to you – your Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby.
John 14: 26 But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in my place, to represent Me and act on my behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.
I grew up in church and became a Christian at an early age. So I read this verse and heard in sermons that the Holy Spirit was there to lead and guide me.
But I never understood how.
It’s one thing to hear something over and over. It’s totally different to hear and understand what you have heard.
One day my mind and understanding became wide open to grasp the meaning of John 14: 26.
From that moment on, I have never thought of the Holy Spirit in the same way. I understood that He became a part of my life from the moment I became a Christian.
But I never understood the prominent place He desired to play in every aspect of my life.
I didn’t understand how awesome the Holy Spirit is to every believer in Christ.
His help and wisdom are needed in every area of your life. You don’t have to make a big decision or stand on your own strength.
The Holy Spirit knows what you need at the exact time you need it. When you need a Comforter, He can comfort you in a way that no one else can.
If you are a believer in Christ, then you have this same Holy Spirit. And He is the one who will help you understand the Bible. He will also lead and guide you in the right direction.
He wants to open your eyes, heart, and mind to truths you have never understood before. So ask Him to open your heart and mind to understand the truths in the Bible.
No, you can’t physically see Him. But if you open your heart and mind, He will speak to you in a way you can hear Him. You just have to listen to what He has to say.
