Tell your storm how big God is. Keep your eyes on Jesus and don’t let the storm overpower you and make you sink.
Stop telling God how big your storm is. Instead, tell the storm how big your God is.
Every Believer in Christ will walk through some storms. And some of them will be so big the waves feel as if they will swallow you.
Sometimes you may bring on a storm of your own doing. And sometimes God allows it to happen. Either way, the storms of life are inevitable.
God wants you to come through the storm victoriously. And Satan wants you to be swallowed up by the waves so much that you give up.
The best thing to do is to look at storms in a different way. Then you won’t be tempted to give up easily.
In a monstrous storm a good captain steers his boat as straight as possible. He steers head-on into the coming waves so that he can go up and over them. If the boat is sideways when the wave hits it will capsize and sink.
The captain knows he must use his concentration and ability to keep the boat going straight until the storm is over.
Your times of testing reveal your character. And God wants to use the testing time to make you into a stronger and more mature believer in Christ.
It might seem like punishment to you, but God has a purpose for everything you walk through. Your greatest growth as a Christian comes during your heaviest times of testing.
You may look at this as a bad thing. But God looks at it as an opportunity to help you grow stronger. So tell your storm how big God is and concentrate on having tunnel vision to keep your eyes on Jesus.
Matthew 14: 28-31 And Peter said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous (strong,) he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
Peter was a passionate and courageous person. In his later years he grew into a strong Christian whom God used greatly. But at the beginning, he spoke before he thought about the consequences. And because of this he made some bad decisions.
Peter saw Jesus walking on the water towards the boat. Before he thought it through, he told Jesus he wanted to walk on the water too.
After a few steps, he noticed the churning sea around him and grew afraid of drowning. He looked at the waves instead of focusing on Jesus.
But he did walk a few steps before starting to sink. Most of us probably would not have even gotten out of the boat.
The only way you can make it through a big storm is to keep your focus on Jesus.
You must keep on walking toward Him and not get sidetracked. If Peter had done this, He would have eventually touched the hand of Jesus and would have reached his destination safely. All he had to do was have tunnel vision to Jesus.
So it is in real life. Don’t let yourself be consumed by the storm and huge waves that surround you.
Look to Jesus and continually keep taking steps toward Him. Then you will make it through the storm.
This won’t be easy. But instead of concentrating on the storm, keep your concentration on Jesus.
If you’re like me, you won’t choose to go through a storm. But when it comes, you can have the assurance that your Heavenly Father is there each step of the way leading, protecting, and ultimately giving the victory!
